Quiet And Balanced
I get it. I really do. Loud and polarising gets attention. The message is simple, the delivery is catchy. Your response just takes a minimal amount of calories: Either you agree, or you don’t.
Simple messages, great delivery, easy response decisions. Very compelling.
Everybody notices the reactions this creates. In themselves, and in others. So everyone picks it up, getting louder and louder, and more polarising.
This drowns out the quiet ones. The ones with the balanced views. The ones bringing the nuance to the conversation. The ones that see all sides of an argument, and try to understand each position.
And they either shut up, or adopt the same tactic of loud and polarising.
Until everyone’s just shouting at each other.
